Latest police, crime and courts news.

A 21-year-old homeless man was charged with juvenile annoyance and sexual battery after he assaulted two women in one day on Thursday, March 14.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to investigate a sexual assault report at 1 pm at a business in the 1400 block of Third Street.

Upon arrival the officers spoke with the victim who told them that she was inside the business and when she had been climbing the stairs she had suddenly felt a hand grabbing her buttocks.

She described the assailant as a white male, brown hair with dreads who was wearing a blue button down shirt and grey pants.

About half an hour after taking the statement from this victim, the officers received a radio call informing them that a man fitting the aforementioned description had approached a woman in the bathroom of Nordstrom, located in the 200 block of Broadway.

The man had asked the woman if she would care to have sexual intercourse with him to which she had declined.

The officers rushed to the location and arrested the man, who was subsequently positively identified by both victims. Bail was set at $20,000.
