Lou Ferrigno Returns Free Wellness Program To Santa Monica Pier:

Remember Lou Ferrigno as the musclebound The Incredible Hulk in the 1970s? The Santa Monica resident, along with his daughter and business partner Shanna, are teaming up with Santa Monica Pier to present a free four-week wellness program that begins this weekend.

Dubbed “Hey There Muscles – Lean Fitness by Ferrigno FIT,” the program will be held on the Pier every Saturday at 9 am (July 18-Aug. 8).

Hey There Muscles offers a complete overhaul of mind, body and spirit with classes focused on creating lean muscle, and education on healthy living and eating habits. Classes will be led by a rotating team of Ferrigno FIT instructors and nutrition experts, including Ferrigno and Shanna.

The series will kick off on Saturday with Shanna Ferrigno and Ferrigno FIT’s newest Fitness Director, Alexis Olerio, focusing on core and shoulders strength, and will close on Aug. 8 with father, Lou Ferrigno, who will discuss self-awareness and the importance of keeping fit.

Hey There Muscles is based off the full 12-week Incredibly Fit by Ferrigno FIT program, which is a comprehensive fitness program with personalized meal plans, workouts, recipes, lifestyle tips and more.

“The Ferrigno FIT team is excited for our second annual Hey There Muscles summer workout program,” says Ferrigno FIT Co-Founder, Shanna Ferrigno. “We were able to see the positive impact that last year’s series had on the community, and are thrilled to have some of our members become the educators and discuss how far they have come since last summer. We plan on packing in even more health and fitness knowledge into each class, and will bring the most elite speakers and fitness instructors to educate and motivate attendees.”

With the sound of the ocean as a backdrop, the West End of the Pier will come alive with interval bodyweight exercises, including stretching, resistance training, weights, kickboxing and nutrition and motivational pep-talks. Each class offers total body workouts in a judgment-free environment for all levels, and they are designed to be a 360-experience from mind to muscle, concentrating on a different area of the body each week. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water and towels. Weights, mats, bands and other necessary equipment will be provided.

Class Schedule:

Since moving to Santa Monica in 1976, Lou Ferrigno has truly come full circle, and has committed to a lean and healthy lifestyle. He’s passed on these ideals to his children, which led to the first major father-daughter fitness team between him and Shanna.

Following the overwhelming success of the Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival, weekly ROGA (free running + yoga classes) and the first year of Hey There Muscles, the Santa Monica Pier brings this unique and free fitness series once again to the city.

Hey There Muscles is produced by Ferrigno FIT and Generic Events, the Active Lifestyle Programming Curators for the Santa Monica Pier, and is sponsored by ALT 987 and Whole Foods. For more information, visit www.HeyThereMuscles.com.
