The first Dodgers Wives Mystery Bag fundraising event will be held at today’s Los Angeles Dodgers-Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim interleague game at Dodger Stadium.
For a $40 cash donation, fans will get to pick a mystery bag containing an autographed baseball from one of more than 20 Dodger players, coaches and alumni.
The bags will be available for purchase beginning when stadium gates open at 11:10 a.m. at sales booths located in the left field plaza, right field plaza and on the club level by the press box.
More than 1,400 mystery bags will be available with baseballs signed by Dodger pitchers Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, outfielder Joc Pederson, coaches Davey Lopes and Mark McGwire and catching instructor Steve Yeager.
Proceeds from the sales of the bags will benefit the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, the team’s official charity, which supports programs in sports and recreation, education and literacy, and health and wellness.
As with all Sunday home games except the final one, the Dodgers will conduct their Viva Los Dodgers family-friendly festival. Musical entertainment will be provided by BB Bronx and Sinverguenza.
Dodger broadcaster Manny Mota will sign autographs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Viva Los Dodgers.
Viva Los Dodgers begins at 11 a.m. and is held at Dodger Stadium’s 76 station.
Mickey Hatcher, an outfielder-infielder on the Dodger’ 1988 World Series championship team, will sign autographs in the left field pavilion from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Caroline Wozniacki, the world’s top-ranked women’s tennis player for all but one week from Oct. 11, 2010 to Jan. 30, 2012, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Dodger cap.
As with most Sunday home games, children 14 and under can run around the bases following the game.
Auto gates will open at 10:40 a.m. and stadium gates at 11:10 a.m. Pregame ceremonies will begin at 12:55 p.m. for the 1:10 p.m. game.
