A 31-year-old homeless man was carted off to Santa Monica Jail on Wednesday, July 22, after drawing attention of police after yelling profanities while possessing a stolen shopping cart.
At 1:30 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1200 block of Third Street Promenade in order to investigate a report of a man who was screaming and disturbing the peace.
When the officers arrived they spotted the man in question and noticed that he was yelling nonsensical statements that were littered with profanities.
The man was projecting these vociferous comments at passersby as well as the patrons of two businesses and as a result causing people to become unsettled and disturbed.
The officers noticed that the man was also in possession of a shopping cart that was the property of a local supermarket. The officers detained and later arrested this homeless man and he was charged with appropriation of lost property. Bail was set at $500.
