WATCH: Eyewitness Account to Swimmer’s Drowning on Venice Beach:

The man was found about 6:20 p.m. Thursday off the 1900 block of Ocean Front Walk and taken from the water in cardiac arrest.

A 28-year-old man died Thursday night after being pulled from the surf in Venice, NBC4 reported.

The man was found about 6:20 p.m. off the 1900 block of Ocean Front Walk and taken from the water in cardiac arrest, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Lifeguards and firefighters rendered advanced lifesaving measures before the man was taken to a hospital, Scott said.

The mayor’s crisis response team was dispatched to assist the man’s distraught family, Scott said.

Once Bitten, Twice Shy.

On Sunday, July 10, at 1:54 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 2400 block of the Santa Monica Beach in order to investigate a report of possible domestic violence. While the officers were heading towards the location they were informed by dispatch that the victim had claimed that his boyfriend had struck him in the chest and face about 30 minutes prior to his summoning of police assistance. The officers were then updated with the couple’s new location which was said to have been at the intersection of Main Street and Strand Street.
