Viewing parties organized by county Democratic organizations for CBS’ telecast of the tonight’s presidential debate are planned for Studio City and Orange.
The watch parties will be held at:
— Residuals Tavern, 11042 Ventura Blvd., Studio City; and
— International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 441 headquarters, 309 N. Rampart St., Suite M, Orange.
The debate between former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, is scheduled from 6-8 p.m.
“Face the Nation” anchor John Dickerson will be the principal moderator. CBS News congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes, Kevin Cooney, an anchor with KCCI, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, and Des Moines Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich will be the panelists.
In an interview posted on CBS News’ website, cbsnews.com, before Friday’s terrorist attack in Paris, Dickerson said his goal as moderator is “to be a window.”
“The voters should see the voters through our questions and I hopefully won’t do anything to get in the way of that commerce,” Dickerson said.
He called “the middle class squeeze — why it’s happening and how to stop the stagnation of wages and increase of prices in their lives” as the most important topic for the candidates.
The single issue Dickerson said he would like to know more about from the candidates, which he feels has not been sufficiently explored so far, is “their views on the choices that presidents have to actually make in office.”
Twitter and CBS News have entered a partnership to create what the network describes as “an enhanced viewer experience for the debate.”
Some questions tweeted by viewers may be used during the debate. The official hashtag is #DemDebate.
CBSN, CBS News’ digital streaming news network, will provide a stream of the debate enhanced with real-time Twitter trends, instant reactions, curated tweets and other information onscreen.
The CBSN coverage will be available to users across all leading digital platforms, including key connected TV devices, mobile devices and online.
