Natalie Cole Dies Age 65 From Congestive Heart Failure:

Singer Natalie Cole, who stepped out from her father’s shadow to become a singer and star on her own talents, has died, it was reported today.

Cole, 65, had been suffering recently from hepatitis and other maladies. She died at a Los Angeles-area hospital of congestive heart failure.

Cole had been scheduled for a New Year’s Eve concert at Walt Disney Hall, which was cancelled.

Cole burst into super-stardom in 1991, appearing in a mashup videotape with her late father, the jazz great Nat King Cole, singing a duet of "Unforgettable." The single sold more than 6 million copies.

Her powerful cover of "This Will Be," Our Love" and "Pink Cadillac" were other cross-format hits.

Her death was widely reported, but no details about it were released by her family or publicist.

“Indignation” Provokes Thought:

“Indignation,” a movie set in the early 1950s and based on a novel by Philip Roth, centers on the sexual awakening of a working class freshman college student named Marcus Messner, who has high intellect, but little experience with female relationships. Logan Lerman plays the young man, one of the few Jewish students at a Midwestern Christian school. By enrolling in college, Messner was able to get out of serving in the Korean War. The film explores his adjustment to campus life and courtship of an attractive coed named Olivia Hutton, played by Sarah Gadon. Hutton has emotional and psychological issues, which she tries to hide from Messner at first, for fear that he will reject her.
