New Metro GoldLine Crash One Day After Opening, Take Note Santa Monica:

Expo Line Turned Over

The crash of a big rig on the Foothill (210) Freeway near San Gabriel Boulevard has resulted in the Metro Gold Line being shutdown between the Allen and Arcadia stations, officials said today.

The driver has been hospitalized, but is expected to recover.

Shuttles are being used to get Metro riders around the closure, spokesman Dave Sotero said. A SigAlert was also in place for the nearby freeway.

The tractor trailer was traveling west on the 210 Freeway when the driver lost control at 3:12 a.m. and slammed into a center guard rail, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived replique rolex, a videographer at the scene said.

Debris from the crash landed on nearby Gold Line tracks, which remain closed while workers check for structural damage, Sotero said.

The crash and closure come just one day and less than a mile away from where a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the new Metro Gold Line expansion at the Duarte/City of Hope station.
