ShakeIt! Self-Acceptance on the Promenade:

The 2nd annual ShakeIt for Self-Acceptance! kicks off National Mental Health Awareness Month Saturday, April 30.

The 2nd annual ShakeIt for Self-Acceptance! kicks off National Mental Health Awareness Month today in Santa Monica on the 1300 block of Third Street Promenade.

With information, inspiring speeches, and a flash mob dance, ShakeIt offers tips, hope and information about self- acceptance, body image, eating issues and various mental health topics.

Beginning at 11am, information booths will be open to the public with visitors able to ask questions to professionals in their fields about self-acceptance, body image, disordered eating/eating disorders, and/or mental health issues.

At noon, an uplifting presentation with inspiring speakers will culminate in a flash mob dance.

“It’s a way to help reduce stigma and educate through fun, positivity and dance,” said ShakeIt for Self-Acceptance! Founder and director Alli Spotts-De Lazzer. “For so many mental health issues, early intervention is key. Information and inspirational conversations — without shame and with hope — can make a world of difference.”
