New Roads School’s varsity baseball team advanced into the CIF-Southern Division 7 quarter finals after winning their 2nd round playoff game yesterday against Calvary Chapel Christian School from Moreno Valley.
The final score of the game was 8 to 0 Calvary Christian. New Roads’ pitcher, junior Brandon Deutsch, threw a complete game, struck out six players, walked none and scored three runs.
“I’m really pleased with what the kids have done to get us into the quarter finals,” Matt Steinhaus, varsity baseball head coach said. “They’ve been very focused in our two games and I just felt that we were very ready yesterday”.
On offense, Sophomore Alex Kop was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.
New Roads’ next game against defending champion Excelsior Charter will be on Friday May 27 at 3:15pm in Victorville.
