Fireside at The Miles Lineup Announced

Santa Monica Cultural Affairs announces the 8th annual Fireside at the Miles performance series at the historic Miles Memorial Playhouse (John Byers, 1929) from January 7 – February 25. The series began in 2010 to reignite the Playhouse’s large period fireplace as a community gathering space for the arts as it was in the 1930s and 40s.

All are invited to experience this year’s lineup of music, dance, and comedy in a truly intimate and historic setting complete with couches, candles, and a coffee and tea bar.

image004Events are scheduled Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. The series starts on Saturday, January 7 with the fabulous Nick Mancini Trio. Nick is a world class vibraphone player who will be sharing selections from his brand new CD. January also brings back the audience favorite “a cappella” night (January 14) hosted by Tom Keyes of the a cappella troupe “Frequency”. The community can also enjoy the Los Angeles Flute Orchestra and the Taiko Drum sensation “On Ensemble” on January 21.

February kicks off with Jazz artist Natalie Jacob and her band on February 3 and a return of the wonderful Angela Todaro Dance Company on February 4. The series will round out on February 24 and 25 with local choreographer Suchi Branfman & Friends bringing their unique and powerful performance.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for youth age 18 and under, adults age 55 and over, and students of any age. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and shows run from 8 to 10 p.m. Seating is general admission. For a complete line-up, visit milesplayhouse.org and click on Fireside at the Miles.
