Santa Monica Encourages Landlords to Invest in Community

The City of Santa Monica has released a landlord incentive to encourage landlords to “invest in your community.” The H.O.U.S.E program (Housing Opportunities Utlizing Subsidy Enhancements) promises to pay the first 45 landlords $5,000 when they accept a tenant using a Santa Monica Housing Voucher. The offer stands for landlords of rent-controlled, non-deed restricted properties who have vacant units. The program will give participating landlords “a $5,000 signing bonus, loss mitigation, and dedicated staff support.” Landlords can also list their vacancies free of charge, according to the City.
