The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced lane closures on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH or State Route 1) in both directions this week for a traffic-signal project.
On Monday, April 9, the following closure will be in place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.:
- The northbound AND southbound #2 lane just east of Malibu Pier.
On Tuesday, April 10, the following closure will be in place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.:
- The northbound #2 lane just east of Malibu Pier.
The closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
At least one lane will be open at all times. Drivers should use caution when traveling through work zones and allow extra time to reach their destination.
The work was mandated by the California Coastal Commission and permitted by Caltrans, and is being done by contractors working for the Malibu Beach Inn to improve safety for pedestrians crossing PCH to access the Pier and beach.
Caltrans is working with the city of Malibu to communicate traffic alerts about projects on PCH and within the city of Malibu limits.
