SMPD: Suspicious Death Investigation

From SMPD: The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) is seeking the public’s assistance with any information or witnesses related to a suspicious death that occurred in Santa Monica.

This morning (July 6) at about 6:44 a.m., SMPD Officers responded to a radio call for service on the property of St. John’s Hospital, 2121 Santa Monica Blvd, regarding a deceased person found on a bench. Hospital security found the body on a bench and notified hospital staff. Hospital staff determined the man was deceased. First responding officers determined the death appeared suspicious.

SMPD Detectives were notified and responded to the scene for an investigation. A preliminary investigation has revealed the deceased suffered a blunt force injury to his upper torso. The deceased is a Caucasian male in his 40’s.
