Santa Monica’s Palisades Park is expected to open in the coming days the Santa Monica Mirror has been told.
On March 27 the City closed Palisades Park to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19. On April 3, Palisades Park was fenced off, as people were still using the park despite the closure.
According to Santa Monica Mayor Kevin McKeown, the fence is expected to be removed Thursday.
“My best information is that the fence, installed, owned, and to be removed by a third-party vendor, will be removed tomorrow if the vendor shows up on time. We asked for removal, but this same fence company has been busy elsewhere as well, as you can imagine,” McKeown said. “Thus I’m loathe to promise that the fence will be down tomorrow, but that was our intent.”
According to McKeown once the fence has been removed the park will be open to the public with social distancing measures in place.
