SMPD Respond to Bomb Threat Hoax at Donald Douglas Loop

No individual matching the caller’s description was found, and a search of the area revealed no suspicious devices

Santa Monica police investigated a bomb threat in late May at the 2700 block of Donald Douglas Loop after a caller, claiming to be a 14-year-old member of a terrorist organization, reported wearing a suicide belt and placing bombs around a building.

The Santa Monica Police Department received the call, described as a possible “swatting” incident, and dispatched officers along with a Sky One unit to the scene. No individual matching the caller’s description was found, and a search of the area revealed no suspicious devices or materials.

Authorities have not released further details about the investigation or the identity of the caller. The incident caused no reported injuries or disruptions to the area.
