102-Year-Old Woman Found Dead on Santa Monica Street

Body found at corner of Colorado and 2nd Tuesday afternoon

Santa Monica police are investigating the death of a 102-year-old resident whose body was found on a street corner Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 2nd Street, police say.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the woman is believed to have fallen from her wheelchair. Police say a Good Samaritan found the woman, placed her into her wheelchair and then proceeded to move her into the shade when he discovered she was not breathing.

After attempting CPD, the Good Samaritan called the Santa Monica Fire Department (SMFD) who then called the (SMPD). SMPD forensics personal were called to the scene at 3:04 p.m., according to the SMPD.

Police say there does not appear to be any nefarious motives in the case and that detectives are currently reviewing video evidence.
