Balinese-Inspired Malibu Beach Mansion Sells for $16.7 Million
By Dolores Quintana
It appears that a Balinese-influenced tropical hideaway in Malibu’s Broad Beach was sold for $16.7 million to John Vojtech and his wife Luz Estela, with the seller being Grammy-winning vocalist Dan Reynolds, lead singer of Imagine Dragons. While it sold for less than the $18 million asking price, it marked a significant increase from the $11.3 million it was last sold for just three years ago in 2020.
The property has a notable Hollywood pedigree, having previously served as a vacation home for actors Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. The couple adorned the house with various eclectic furnishings, including Buddhas. Some of the neighboring homeowners in the Broad Beach area include Pierce Brosnan, Ray Romano, Marta Kauffman, Dustin Hoffman, and Mindy Kaling. Hawn and Russell sold the property in 2013 for $9.5 million. Since then, the property had several owners, with minimal alterations made to the house, including retaining some of the original furnishings.
The mansion is situated behind high walls and gates, featuring a tranquil bamboo-filled courtyard and a stone Ganesha statue. The main house spans 4,200 square feet and includes a double-height living room with a stone fireplace and wet bar, an ornate dining room with unique furnishings, and a gourmet kitchen with high-end stainless appliances. The master suite boasts a fireplace, a large closet, an ocean-view balcony, and a bathroom primarily constructed from Chinese onyx. There are two additional guest suites, a Creston-operated media room, and an oversized office in the main house.
A separate guesthouse is located above the detached three-car garage, offering a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, and sitting area that can also function as a gym. The backyard features an oceanside alfresco dining terrace, an outdoor fireplace, various fountains, and private trails leading to the beach, making it an attractive property for Malibu beachgoers.
