Late Actress’s Redesigned Retreat Blends Modern Architecture With Rustic Charm
The Malibu home of late actress Shannen Doherty has undergone another significant price reduction, with the asking price now at $8.75 million—down from its original $9.5 million listing just two months ago, according to an exclusive report by Realtor.com®.
The five-bedroom, 5,400-square-foot residence was first listed on August 5, a little over a year after Doherty died on July 13, 2024, at the age of 53, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Initially priced at $9.5 million, the home’s cost was quickly adjusted to $9.45 million, and on Sept. 24, another $700,000 was trimmed amid shifting market conditions.
Doherty purchased the property in 2004 for $2.56 million and described it over the years as her personal “sanctuary,” a retreat away from Hollywood’s chaos. In 2018, the estate underwent a major renovation after sustaining damage during the devastating Woolsey Fire.
Listing agent Chris Cortazzo of Compass, a longtime friend of Doherty and executor of her estate, said the home is filled with meaningful treasures the actress collected during her travels around the globe. Profits from the sale will go to Doherty’s mother, Rosa, as the actress did not have children.
At the time of her passing, Doherty was legally married to photographer Kurt Iswarienko, though the pair had separated in 2023. Their divorce was finalized just two days after her death.
Hidden behind mature hedges on one of Malibu’s most sought-after streets, the property combines California modernism with rustic touches. Its contemporary stucco exterior features clean geometric rooflines and expansive walls of glass that bring in natural light and offer seamless indoor-outdoor living.
Inside, wide-plank oak floors, beamed ceilings, vintage fixtures, and antique doors create warmth and contrast against the modern architecture.
