It explores the challenges women faced in their fight for voting rights, set in 1913 as hopes rise with a new Democratic president
The world premiere of “All These Women,” a new play examining the historic struggle for women’s suffrage in America, opens October 3 at Theatre 40, the company announced.
Originally scheduled earlier, the production will now run through October 19 at the Mary Levin Cutler Theatre, located at 241 S. Moreno Dr. on the Beverly Hills High School campus.
Written and directed by Melanie MacQueen, the play is produced by David Hunt Stafford for Theatre 40. It explores the challenges women faced in their fight for voting rights, set in 1913 as hopes rise with a new Democratic president, Woodrow Wilson, and Congress. However, looming war and internal divisions among suffragists threaten their cause, pushing them toward desperate measures.
The cast features April Audia, Todd Andrew Ball, Jessica Kent, Dan Leslie, Lary Ohlson, Anica Petrovic, Michele Schultz, and Kristin Towers-Rowles, with LeeAnne Rowe as an alternate. MacQueen, a veteran director at Theatre 40, has previously helmed productions such as “The Explorers Club” and “The Revolutionists.” Her play “In the Name of God, or Honk If You Love Satire,” which she also wrote and produced, moved from the San Fernando Valley to Off-Broadway.
The production team includes LeeAnne Rowe (assistant director), Joseph “Sloe” Slawinski (sound design), Gabrieal Griego (projections), Judi Lewin (hair, wigs, makeup design), Derrick McDaniel (lighting design), Michael Mullen (costume design), and Jeff G. Rack (set design).
Performances are scheduled Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $35 and available at (310) 364-0535 or online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/all-these-women-at-theatre-40-tickets-1635897265759.
