Cedars-Sinai has appointed Ravi Thadhani, MD, MPH, as executive vice president of Clinical Affairs and chief medical officer for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Health System, effective Oct. 15, the health system announced Friday.

Thadhani, a prominent physician-scientist and leader in academic medicine, will oversee clinical quality, safety, medical affairs, and care standards across the health system, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Network, Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital, and affiliated hospitals.

An internationally recognized expert in nephrology and preeclampsia, Thadhani has led a federally funded research lab for over 25 years, focusing on kidney disease and developing diagnostics and therapeutics for preeclampsia, a major cause of maternal and perinatal health issues.

He succeeds Richard V. Riggs, MD, who will depart Cedars-Sinai at the end of 2025 to pursue other professional opportunities.
