SMC Students to Perform at Applied Music Showcase

Founded in 2001 by Dr. James Smith, the Applied Music Program offers advanced training for instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers

Santa Monica College will spotlight its top student musicians during the Applied Music Showcase on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7:30 p.m. at The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage at the SMC Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature performances by students in the college’s Applied Music Program, including instrumental solos, vocal pieces, ensemble works, and original compositions in a range of musical styles.

Founded in 2001 by Dr. James Smith, the Applied Music Program offers advanced training for instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers preparing to transfer to four-year universities or conservatories. The program is currently directed by Jimmy Cheesman, David Arbury, and Janelle DeStefano.

Tickets are $10 for general admission, with free entry for students presenting valid ID. They are available online at [smc.edu/tickets](https://www.smc.edu/tickets) or by phone at 310-434-3005. 

Remaining tickets will be sold at the Broad Stage box office beginning 45 minutes before the performance. Parking is free, and seating is first-come, first-served.
