Four suspects allegedly yelled derogatory statements and then attacked the victims, described as members of the Turkish Consulate.
Detectives are continuing to investigate a 2023 attack on three members of the Turkish Consulate near the University of Southern California and are seeking the public’s help in identifying four suspects believed to be involved, police said.
The assault occurred about 2:26 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2023, near Downey Way and Watt Way on the USC campus, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said the three victims, described as members of the Turkish Consulate, were walking through the area after a planned event when they were approached by a group of protesters. Four suspects allegedly yelled derogatory statements and then physically attacked the victims.
The suspects pushed, punched and kicked the victims and threw water at them before fleeing, police said. The victims left the area and sought safety. No additional details about injuries were released.
The case is being investigated by the LAPD’s Major Crimes Division as a battery and criminal threats hate crime.
