The billionaire investor is selling the restored 1920s oceanfront residence.
Inside the gated Malibu Colony enclave, billionaire investor Ron Burkle has put his oceanfront home on the market for just under $20 million, as reported by The Robb Report.
Burkle is seeking just under $20 million for the beachfront home. He purchased the property in early 2022 for $13.5 million from the estate of artist and philanthropist Carol Moss, a longtime Malibu resident widely known as “The Mayor of Malibu.” The listing is held by Branden Williams and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates.

The two-story house was originally built in the late 1920s and has since undergone a restoration led by preservation specialist Tim Gleason. Designed in a Tudor-style A-frame with white siding and blue trim, the residence spans approximately 2,500 square feet and includes five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and one half-bath.
The main living spaces are arranged around a dramatic living room with a soaring ceiling, an oversized original clinker brick fireplac,e and a wall of windows overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A gated flagstone entryway framed by bougainvillea leads into the ground floor.
Adjacent to the living room, the kitchen is outfitted with sage green shaker-style cabinetry, dual islands, a wall-mounted wine rack, and Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances. French doors open to a terracotta-tiled sunroom now used as a dining area, which connects to a wood deck designed for outdoor entertaining.

The primary bedroom is located upstairs and features grasscloth wall coverings and a renovated bathroom illuminated by a skylight, with a glass-enclosed shower. Separate staff or guest accommodations with a kitchenette are also included, along with an attached two-car garage at the front of the property.
Despite occupying less than a quarter-acre parcel, the home offers multiple outdoor deck spaces and direct beach access. The backyard includes a raised deck with stairs leading to Malibu Beach, with approximately 37.5 feet of ocean frontage along one of the sandiest stretches of Malibu Colony. Monthly homeowners’ association dues are about $800.
Burkle, whose net worth Forbes estimates at roughly $3.4 billion, is known for collecting architecturally significant and historically notable properties and is the founder and chairman of the investment firm The Yucaipa Companies.
