Public notices posted at 1403 Third Street signal incoming food tenant at former Wetzel’s Pretzels space in downtown Santa Monica.
A new restaurant appears to be in the works for a long-vacant storefront on the Third Street Promenade, according to public notices recently posted on the windows at 1403 Third Street in downtown Santa Monica.
The papers, taped inside the glass at the ground-floor retail space, indicate a new food and beverage tenant under the name “Vivibowl” is preparing to take over the address. The papers also indicate that it will be a take-out restaurant.
The location previously housed Wetzel’s Pretzels, a fast-casual chain known for its fresh-baked soft pretzels, pretzel-wrapped hot dogs and lemonade drinks.
The 1403 address sits next to 1401 Third Street, where Raising Cane’s has previously confirmed plans to open a chicken-finger restaurant in summer 2026 as part of its California expansion.
City permitting records were not immediately available, and no operator had been publicly identified as of this week.
