Santa Monica College to Stage Michael Frayn’s Farce ‘Noises Off’

The production follows a theater company’s chaotic attempt to mount a touring play as missed cues, misplaced props and rivalries threaten the performance.

Santa Monica College’s Theatre Arts Department will present Michael Frayn’s classic backstage comedy “Noises Off” from March 27 through April 5 on the Main Stage at the college’s Theatre Arts building, 1900 Pico Blvd.

The production, directed by Terrin Adair, follows a theater company’s chaotic attempt to mount a touring play as missed cues, misplaced props and backstage rivalries threaten to derail the performance. The farce intertwines the onstage drama with escalating offstage mishaps, delivering a high-energy portrait of theatrical disorder.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28; 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29; 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4; and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 5. All show times are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
