‘Precision & Pulse’ pairs large-scale sculpture with geometric abstraction in Santa Monica show.
Bruce Lurie Gallery will present “Precision & Pulse,” a two-artist exhibition featuring new sculpture by Michael Kalish and abstract paintings by Ron Piller, on view from March 7 through April 6.
An opening reception with the artists is scheduled for Friday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, 608 Santa Monica Blvd.
Kalish, known for monumental mixed-media works incorporating vintage license plates, automobile parts and other found objects, continues his exploration of form through large-scale pieces that balance technical precision with visual rhythm. His public installations include the 22-foot Muhammad Ali tribute *reALIze*, composed of 1,300 suspended punching bags, which won the American Institute of Architects Sculpture of the Year Award.
Piller, based in Palos Verdes, creates acrylic-on-panel abstractions built on penciled grids and bold geometric shapes. His compositions layer strong lines and vivid color to generate visual energy, with recent work featured in The Other Art Fair and the Saatchi Art Catalog.
The exhibition juxtaposes Kalish’s engineered, structurally rigorous sculpture with Piller’s intuitive, color-driven abstraction, creating a dialogue between control and spontaneity. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.
