Santa Monica Pier Aquarium Octopus Gets into Mischief:

The Santa Monica Pier aquarium’s two-spotted octopus caused the Aquarium to flood last Wednesday night after it played with a valve in its tank. The flooding was discovered the next morning when the aquarium’s employees came into work. Aquarium officials estimate that about 200 gallons of water flooded the aquarium gallery and their three staff offices. Damage was also caused to the front façade of the octopus’s tank. The Director also said that “since this has happened, the aquarium has had 1,500 visitors which has made it one of its biggest February weekends. Fifty percent of the people who came in asked to see the octopus.” The aquarium has also been overwhelmed with calls from the public offering to help with the clean-up.
