Richard Ragland, a four-year starter and productive quarterback at Venice High, has left El Camino College and plans to play for Compton College next season.Ragland was on the El Camino squad last season as a reserve. He faced strong competition this season because two transfers from four-year schools arrived on the El Camino campus.Matt Simms, son of former Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms, came from Louisville University. He was a former high school star in New Jersey.Darius Banks, the state passing leader in 2007 at Culver City High, transferred from Eastern Washington, a school he attended last season although he was ineligible to play.Simms was highly impressive in a recent workout at El Camino witnessed by his father, who said no guarantee of playing time was made by El Camino coach John Featherstone.El Camino also has running back Kenny Easley, a former Venice star who signed a letter of intent with USC but failed to qualify academically. He was injured last season.
