Decker Named Player of Week Again:

When Cody Decker was named Pac-10 Conference Player of the Week for the third week in April, the former Santa Monica High star added several baseball accomplishments.

He won the honor for the second time this season and third time in his career.

He became the first UCLA player since Forrest Johnson in 2000 to earn the honor at least twice in one season.

And Decker, with 15 home runs this season, came within one of conference leader Kyle Conley of Washington.

For the week Decker went seven for 15 with three home runs and five RBI. He had hit safely in 13 of UCLA’s last 15 games with eight homers and 18 RBI in that span.

Decker is a senior who wasn’t selected in the 2008 baseball draft following a disappointing year. Often used as a Designated Hitter, he’s been playing first base in recent weeks.
