Alert: Police Blotter:

Husband Hits Wife

Wednesday. October 21, 8:46 a.m. Officers were called to the 2700 block of Lincoln Boulevard in response to a report of domestic violence. When they arrived the victim (wife) informed them that her husband had assaulted her, and explained how it had allegedly occurred: Husband became upset with wife. Husband begins to yell at wife. Wife attempts to leave. Husband pushes wife from behind, and wife then turns and faces husband, husband hits wife in shoulder, and then wife becomes fearful for her safety and throws car keys in direction of husband. Wife follows up with arm flailing. Husband hits wife again, and then pushes wife causing her to fall into a wall. The conclusion: Police arrest husband (Hispanic, aged 37) and take husband to Santa Monica Jail where police book him for domestic battery on a spouse, and a probation violation, with bail set at $20,000.

He Was Cart Crazy!

Wednesday, October, 21 11:19 p.m. officers received a radio call about an assault with a deadly weapon incident in the 400 block of Broadway, and so sped there. The report had indicated that a man was using a shopping cart as a deadly weapon and ramming some sleeping transients with it. As the officers approached the scene, a man who was bleeding profusely from his right arm flagged them down, and this bleeding man told them that another transient had cut him. The officers noticed a shopping cart a short distance away, and began to put two and two together. They then observed a possible suspect that the man with the cut arm had described, detained her, and started to question her. She had an entirely different story to tell (two and two makes?). What she said was that she had been sleeping, when a man had rammed a shopping cart into her, and demanded that she pay a five-dollar fee, that he clearly assumed he was entitled to (?), as a charge for her use of the bench as a sleeping platform. She refused to pay this fee, so this guy threatened her with a lighter, and then set a piece of paper on fire, threw it at her, and thus caused her blanket to combust. She feared for her own safety, and so removed a razor from her bag and swung it at this guy, causing his arm to bleed, at which point this guy left the area. The cops had their case, and realized that the guy with the bleeding arm was in fact the suspect! They arrested this 33-year-old white male, and booked him for assault with a deadly weapon, and arson, prior to transporting him to a hospital for medical attention. Bail was set at $50,000.

Rough Seas?

Friday, October 23, 12:22 p.m. Officers went to the Old Navy store on Third Street Promenade in response to a complaint of a criminal threat. This is what they discovered: A man had entered the store, and instead of looking at the range of nice clothes that were available for purchase, decided to create a disturbance. A store employee escorted this man outside. About ten minutes later the man returned, and repeated the disturbing behavior, at which point the store manager approached him and offered his assistance (are you being served?). This disturber responded to this enquiry by threatening to kill the manager, as well as a number of other people in the store. The manager managed to escort this guy outside of the store, and realizing that this was not going to be smooth sailing, called the cops. This man, a white male, aged 66, was discovered by the cops, sitting on a bench opposite Old Navy, so the cops arrested him for terrorist threats. This guy didn’t seem too impressed with this charge alone, so he spat in the face of one of the cops, thus adding a charge of battery on a police officer to his rap sheet. There was no bail set.
