Two Coaches Bring Crossroads Success:

When the Crossroads baseball program had two successive losing seasons, it seemed like a change might be in order.

The change was the addition of Pat Arnstrong, the Roadrunners’ junior varsity coach the previous season, to the varsity. Matt Amido, who had coached the two losing seasons, remained.

This was a year ago. Crossroads fared much better in the first year of the co-coach system and was so successful Armstrong drew consideration for the Santa Monica High job, which became open. He decided to stay at Crossroads.

“Matt and I work well together,” said Armstrong. “I think our attributes blend very well.”

Armstrong is more vocal and has taken on the role of spokesman to the media. He also lives locally and is able to conduct off-season workouts. By contrast, Amido does not live locally.

Crossroads is off to a 5-0 start this season, the last two victories coming in road games against Oakwood, 17-5 and Brentwood, 13-7.

Crossroads was scheduled to host Campbell Hall at Clover Park on Tuesday afternoon, March 23.
