Alert: Police Blotter:

Under The Influence

On Thursday, July 1, at 9:28 a.m., officers of the Santa Monica Police Department traveled to Douglas Park, located at 2400 Wilshire, in response to a report of two people who were apparently under the influence of drugs (baked, blown away, bombed, buzzed, doped, drugged, fried, high, loaded, on a trip, out of it, plastered, ripped, spaced out, stewed, strung out, tanked, totaled, tripping, or wasted). Upon arrival, the cops observed the two people in question; one male, and one female. The officers began to speak with these two people, and as they were doing so, they noticed a set of “brass knuckles” (a band of metal with four holes that fits over the upper fingers, and that is gripped when a fist is made, used for increasing the effect of a blow with the fist) situated in front of the male. The male stated that these were for his own “protection.” As officers spoke with the female, they determined that she was in fact displaying signs of being under the influence of drugs (baked, blown away, etc., etc.). The cops investigated further, and discovered that this 16-year-old girl was in possession of marijuana, as well as a crack pipe. The cops also noticed that she was experiencing what they perceived to be a narcotic overdose, so they decided to have her transported to a local hospital. She was later released to the custody of a guardian. The male, a 21-year-old transient in Santa Monica was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon. His bail is $20,000.

Like A Horse And Carriage

On Thursday, July 1, at 10:55 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Berkeley Street because of a report of domestic violence. When they arrived, they spoke with a married couple (it is not known by this paper how long they had been married), who explained that they had been involved in an argument about the state, and quality of their marriage. This argument had evolved into a physical altercation (perhaps that had answered their questions?), and as a result the wife had been given cause to complain about a pain in her hand. Officers decided that that was enough for them to arrest the husband, a 38-year-old, and so they did just that. Bail: $20,000.

A Day To Remember

On Saturday, July 3, at 4:36 a.m., officers went to the 2900 block of Neilson Way in response to a complaint about a man who was refusing to leave the lobby area of a building. When the officers arrived at the location they noticed that the guy was displaying the usual signs of intoxication, such as slurred speech, difficulty maintaining reasonable balance, bloodshot eyes, confusion etc. The officers spoke with this chap, who further confirmed his state of mind by telling them that he had no idea that he was in a city called Santa Monica. This man, aged 28 and a resident of Toluca Lake, was arrested and taken to jail. His bail: $250.00.
