Alert: Police Blotter:

Slap Sticks Man In Jail

On Friday, Nov. 26, at 2:06 p.m. officers went to the 1500 block of Fifth Street because they had heard about an assault that had occurred there. When they arrived they spoke with the wheelchair-bound victim who walked them through what had happened. Apparently the victim had met the suspect, a 47-year-old homeless man, in the 500 block of Olympic Boulevard the previous evening and had kindly allowed him to spend the night at his residence. During the afternoon of the following day (Nov. 26) the victim had asked the suspect to leave the residence. The suspect refused, and slapped the wheelchair-bound victim in the face. It was at that time that the victim summoned the assistance of the police and was desirous of a private person’s arrest. The officers obliged and arrested the suspect for assault and battery and public intoxication. His bail is $20,000.

Dinner Special

On Friday, Nov. 26, at 9:22 p.m. officers went to Denny’s, located at the 1500 block of Lincoln Boulevard, not to dine, but to investigate an individual who had been reported for disturbing the peace. When they arrived the manager informed them that a customer was refusing to pay for her $13 meal (unlucky number?). The manager was willing to place the woman under arrest for defrauding an innkeeper. However, at that moment an involved citizen advised them that she had given the woman $10 toward the payment of the bill. The police then spoke with the suspect, who decided to become belligerent and started to yell, including yelling something about only having $11 with which to pay the bill. The manager accepted this amount and then asked the woman to leave the Denny’s, but the woman refused to leave, and was thus placed under arrest for trespassing. The bail for this 38-year-old transient is $10,250.

Car Sickness

On Saturday, Nov. 27, at 6:10 p.m., officers went to Neilson Way and Fraser Street to investigate a traffic collision involving one vehicle. When they observed the driver they noticed symptoms of intoxication, and requested that this 22-year-old female perform a series of balance and coordination tests. During one of these tests the woman fell to the ground (perhaps thinking of the gravity of her situation as she was descending). Officers decided to arrest the woman for DUI, and as they were transporting her to the hospital to be checked out (or in), she vomited and passed out in the back of the police vehicle. She was eventually arrested for being “impaired,” and her bail is $15,000.
