Santa Monica Symphony Launches Partner With A Player Sponsorship Program:

The Santa Monica Symphony is launching a program designed to connect the orchestra to its audience and personalize the concert experience as part of its 2011-12 season.

The program, Partner with a Player, will allow audience members to personally sponsor Symphony musicians, including principal and sectional players (many of whom are volunteers from the community).

Sponsorship benefits include a photo with the chosen musician to be displayed at all concerts; the opportunity to sit next to the musician at an open rehearsal; and a musician meet-and-greet during a post-concert reception.

Sponsorships are available at $200 for each sectional player and $400 for each principal player. Up to four parties can split the cost of the sponsorship.

“I think that sponsoring a player under our new program is an exciting way to get involved with the Symphony on a more personal level,” said Symphony Music Director and Conductor Allen Robert Gross. “One of the great things about attending a live concert is the realization that real people are making music for you, right there. Getting to meet one of the musicians, consciously identifying yourself as a supporter, and sitting next to him or her at a special rehearsal deepens this realization and is a tangible way to further support the Symphony.”

Partner with a Player will begin during the Symphony’s first concert of the season on October 29, 2011.

A display featuring details on each musician–including his or her photo, instrument, number of years with the Symphony, and daytime profession–will be on view in the lobby. Audience members can select a musician to sponsor based on this information. Sponsorships can be purchased at each concert throughout the season.

To learn more about Partner with a Player or purchase an advance sponsorship, contact Symphony Executive Director Tom O’Connor at 310.395.6330 or execdir@smsymphony.org.
