Man Tasered On Wilshire Boulevard For Charging At Police Officer:

An argument between two men tonight at a 7/11 store in Santa Monica escalated to one of the men being tasered by a police officer.

At about 8:45 p.m., a female patrol officer responded to a radio call of two males arguing at the store located at 630 Wilshire Boulevard.

One of the suspects jumped in front of the patrol car and took an aggressive stance while the female officer was still in the vehicle, Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Richard Lewis said.

When the officer got out of her patrol car to confront him, the man – identified as 51-year-old Michael Ryan, started to strip off his clothes in front of her.

Sgt. Lewis said a second officer showed up shortly after she radioed for back-up.

When this male police officer got out of his car, Ryan charged at him as if was going to attack him, Lewis said.

“That’s when the female officer deployed her taser and he goes to ground,” Lewis said. “(There were) no injuries other than he had taser darts in him, so they took him to the hospital per our policy and will be booked for misdemeanor code 140,” he said.
