Samo’s Clubhouse is a custom designed play and learn environment for children up to 8 years old. The play area incorporates multiple climbing elements, a balance beam, an inclined tight rope, a 4 foot high slide, and lots of interactive areas including talk tubes, telescope, periscope, and other fun activities for children to explore. Samo is surrounded by a colorful and playful “ocean” floor made of recycled rubber. A 25 foot long “coral reef” wall stimulates the visual and physical senses of toddlers while providing a nurturing place to explore unique textures, surfaces, and moving elements. The grand opening is free, RSVP at samo.eventbrite.com.

Textiles Recycling and Holiday Event

Saturday, Nov. 19

Free, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

City Yards, 2500 Michigan Ave.

310.458.6488

T-shirts make wonderful wrapping and we are here to show you how. This year’s clothing/textile recycling event will also feature a mini workshop on constructing no-sew t-shirt bags and how to reuse cloth instead of purchasing new wrapping paper. The City of Santa Monica’s Resource Recovery and Recycling Division is hosting a textiles collection event on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City Yards, helping you to find a new home for all your unusable clothing, towels, bedding, and so much more. Participants are encouraged to take reusable goods to any of the many charities benefiting the Santa Monica area. A reuse guide is available at www.smgov.net/r3.
