Samohi Girls Excel In Water Polo

Two Santa Monica High seniors have been named all-CIF in water polo.

Nila Ward was selected to the Division 6 first team and Melissa Mendoza to the second team.

Two members of the Malibu High girls’ team were honored in Division 4.  Sophomore Sophia Sarla and senior Kristen Whittemore both made the third team.

 

SMC Men’s Volleyball Has 4-4 Record

The Santa Monica College men’s volleyball team has a 4-4 record following a five-set loss to Grossmont College. SMC won two of the first three sets but lost the final two.

Some of the team’s outstanding players have been outside hitter Dragan Ivanovic, multiple positions player Derek Otte, setter Kupono Nu’Uhiwa and Brian Schirripa. The coach is Mark Lee.

 

Samohi Soccer Named To CIF Team

Omid Shokoufandeh, a Santa Monica High senior forward, has been named to the Division 3 Boys all-CIF soccer second team.

 

Brentwood Boys Tennis Wins One, Loses Next       Brentwood defeated Episcopal of Greenville, So. Carolina, 7-2 in the first round of the Corona del Mar All-American boys tournament but lost to Santa Barbara, 5-4 in the quarterfinals.
