International Women’s Day Breakfast In Santa Monica On March 8:

By Jillian Alexander

Most often, when people outside this region think of Santa Monica, they think of our gorgeous, wide sandy beaches, celebrities, and recognize it as a creative economy hub. Yet, many are surprised to learn Santa Monica is Los Angeles’ Westside beach community and a part of the Creative Capital of the World.

The ability to access cutting edge discoveries, attract top-notch intellectual

capital talent, maintain leading-edge knowledge and skills, and live in a highly- integrated, culturally-diverse and pleasant climate convinced me to establish Conduit Consulting LLC, a Strategy, Transaction Advisory, and General Management Consultancy firm, here.

With the leadership of its President Laurel Rosen, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce has been successfully attracting creative economy and other businesses to “Silicon Beach” by connecting entrepreneurs and corporate executives to professional resources and each other not only within Santa Monica, but also internationally.

Facilitating these connections and in celebration of both International Women’s Day and the 25th annual Congressional recognition of March as National Women’s History Month, the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce will be holding its inaugural International Women’s Day Breakfast on March 8, 2012, at Tiato Market Garden Café in Santa Monica.

In addition to recognizing former City of Santa Monica Community & Cultural Services Director Barbara Stinchfield for her many years of leadership and service to Santa Monica, the program includes a special presentation by director-producer-actor Nancy Charles Linneham as well as a panel comprised of women business and professional leaders from Media, Finance and Education industries sharing their experience and what it takes to achieve career success.

The “Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment” panelists will be The Phelps Group Chief Brand Strategist Michelle Adelson, Wells Fargo Advisors Managing Director Susan Inwood, and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Superintendent Sandra Lyons.

This is one of a dozen 2012 National Women’s History Month events conceived in partnership with the Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women.
