Santa Monica College student Inken Brough has won a $500 Scholarship Award from the Textile Association of Los Angeles in association with the California Fashion Foundation for her structured-and-layered evening gown.

She was one of the winners in the “Best Use of Technology” category and received the award at a recent luncheon at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles. The event was funded by AIMS 360.

Brough’s evening dress – which had previously won Best in Show at “LA Mode 2012,” the college’s annual fashion show – is a black structural floral brocade bustier with lacing and long silk skirt made up of cascading layers.

At “LA Mode,” she had also won other prizes in the categories of resort and evening wear.
