With the countdown to the start of school well underway, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica decided to help out its members get prepared with free supplies and backpacks.
Courtesy of the Sketch Foundation, the SMBGC on Saturday handed out backpacks stuffed with pencils, pens, markers, erasers, scissors, paper, notebooks and more to the 200 hand-selected members who need it most.
The supplies were packed according to grade and will be handed out by members of our Leaders in Training Club.
Founded in 1944, Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica currently serves more than 7,000 youth through memberships and community outreach.
They come from all over Los Angeles County, largely from Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, West Los Angeles and Inglewood.
Members pay a $20 annual fee for access to all Club amenities and programs that span across education, leadership, recreation and more.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica Main Branch is located at 1238 Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica.
