The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica will host an outdoor evening soiree featuring a three-course prix fixe dinner for only $40 per person, cooked by guest chef Alex Chang of Animal Restaurant in West Hollywood this Saturday, Sept. 22 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
All proceeds from this event will help fund the club’s teen global service learning projects, both in Los Angeles and abroad.
In 2012, the Club took teens to South Africa, England, Canada, and other locations, where they had once-in-a-lifetime experiences in community service and exploration abroad.
These trips are in addition to the many local community service projects which are conducted through the Keystone Club & Torch Club at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica.
In 2013, the club hopes to increase the impact of its community service projects by furthering its reach and increasing the number of teens involved.
Alex Chang will be featured as the guest chef for the night.
Having worked in restaurants from his own Paladar (apartment-made restaurant) to Los Angeles and all the way to Japan, Chang has established himself as a sophisticated chef skilled in a wide variety of cuisines.
After working at The Lazy Ox Canteen in LA and several restaurants in Japan, he now finds himself working at Animal Restaurant in the Fairfax district.
Both of these restaurants have a Zagat rating of 26/30 and Animal was featured on Jonathon Gold’s top 99 places to eat in LA in 2011.
His dynamic cooking technique and unique style and passion are made evident in each dish he plates.
This event will be held in the outdoor area at the main Club site at 1238 Lincoln Blvd, which will be transformed into a beautiful and serene dining area surrounded candlelight.
The dinner will feature live music from DJ Doesha as well as a live magic performance by a professional magician.
