Orchestra Santa Monica Inaugural Concert This Saturday, October 27:

Former Santa Monica Symphony music director Allen Robert Gross will lead Santa Monica’s newest full-scale orchestra called Orchestra Santa Monica in three concerts during its 2012-2013 inaugural concert season.

The first performance of popular classical works is this Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Barnum Hall on the campus of Santa Monica High School, 601 Pico Blvd.

Orchestra Santa Monica was formed by a dedicated group of individuals who wanted to continue providing symphonic concerts for Santa Monica residents.

Maestro Gross said he was thrilled by the overwhelming passionate support for this new ensemble.

“I am so pleased to be able to continue leading high quality orchestral concerts in Santa Monica,” Gross said. “I believe that a symphony orchestra represents the best cultural aspirations of a community and provides an irreplaceable enrichment to our lives.”

“With love and music for Santa Monica” is the intention set forth by Orchestra Santa Monica.

The driving force behind this local-minded orchestra will be its Community Advisory Board.

Board member Gary Bovyer, Orchestra Santa Monica’s Principal Clarinetist and educator notes, “Orchestra Santa Monica is special because so many of its musicians reside in the Santa Monica area and want to serve the community through their music-making.”

Educational and community outreach programs are key to nurturing the next generation of classical music lovers.

Orchestra Santa Monica will proudly provide a series of in-school chamber music concerts and other performances that target the needs of local communities.

These inclusive concerts have become an important part of Santa Monica’s culture and Orchestra Santa Monica looks forward to continuing the tradition of reaching and serving all of its residents.

Admission is adults $20, seniors (65 and older) $15, students (full time with valid ID) $10, members free, children 12 and under accompanied by an adult are also free.

Pre-purchased tickets may be picked up at the Will Call desk beginning one hour prior to the scheduled concert. Tickets may also be purchased the night of the concert on-site at the Box Office beginning one hour prior to the scheduled concert. Cash, checks and major credit cards are accepted.

Orchestra Santa Monica employs an open seating policy for general admission. To reserve tickets prior to the concert, please call 310-525-7618 or visit: www.OrchestraSantaMonica.org/tickets.
