Register Now For Santa Monica State Of The City On January 24:

By Rosalind Napoli

Here in Santa Monica, we are always on the move and now more than ever it’s important for us to keep in touch with what’s happening in our city.

On Jan. 24, key city leaders will come together with members of business community, students and local residents at State of the City.

Hosted by the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, the event will provide insights on the local impact of the current global and state economy, with an emphasis on transportation and doing business in Santa Monica.

Richard Thorpe, CEO of Exposition & Construction Authority and Martha Welbourne, Executive Director of Planning for LA Metro will serve as keynote speakers. Thorpe will give attendees an inside look and simulation of the EXPO which will extend service from Downtown Los Angeles to Culver City to downtown Santa Monica and will encompass a 6.6 mile corridor and have an estimated rider ship of 64,000 daily riders from Downtown LA to Downtown Santa Monica by 2030.

State of the City attendees can mix and mingle among members of the business community, city leaders, and residents but most importantly learn about transportation and how it will impact. City Manager Rod Gould and newly elected Mayor Pam O’Connor will provide the “State of the City Address” giving an update on what’s happening in construction, development projects, traffic mitigation and congestion and an overview of what’s happening in Santa Monica.

The Economic Excellence Award will be presented to the American Film Market for their continued support of the Santa Monica community and Pam O’Connor will be honored for her contributions in moving Santa Monica forward.

State of The City will take place on Thursday, Jan. 24 at SGI Auditorium in Santa Monica located at 606 Wilshire Blvd. Tickets are $50 for non-members, $40 for members, $20 for students and faculty with ID and $10 for Seniors over $65. Breakfast reception begins at 7 a.m.
