Authorities Identify Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident On Pico Boulevard:

A motorcyclist was killed on Pico Boulevard at 25th Street at about 1 p.m. on Monday

Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed Monday afternoon on Pico Boulevard at the intersection of 25th Street in Santa Monica.

Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Richard Lewis said Alexander Smollins, aged 22 of Culver City, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 1:03 p.m.

Smollins was traveling eastbound in the 2400 block of Pico when a silver Toyota being driven by a 26-year-old man from Inglewood, which was traveling northbound on 25th Street, made a left hand turn onto Pico when the two collided, according to Lewis.

The Toyota driver had stopped for the posted stop sign on 25th Street before turning onto Pico, Lewis said.

The driver of the Toyota is cooperating, Lewis said.

Pico Boulevard from Cloverfield to 25th Street was closed to traffic for most of Monday afternoon while detectives investigated the accident.
