Man Arrested For Harassing Shoppers Inside Santa Monica Apple Store: Alert Police Blotter: Pop-Up Message.

A 29-year-old man was arrested Saturday, Feb. 16 for harassing customers inside the Apple Store on the Third Street Promenade and refusing to leave.

At 1:40 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the store at 1415 Third Street Promenade after they had received a report of a man refusing to leave after both the management and loss prevention agents had requested that he do so.

When the officers arrived they spoke with the loss prevention agents who told them that this man had entered the store carrying a cardboard sign.

The man had then walked around the store harassing customers, holding the sign above his head and forcing customers to read the message (it is not known what the message was).

The officers spoke with this man and asked him to leave the store.

He obviously didn’t get the message and refused to leave, so the officers performed a private person’s arrest and this man was taken into custody.

The man refused to provide any identification.

The officers proceeded to take this man to the Santa Monica Jail, where he was charged with trespass in a public business and resisting officers.

Bail for this man, who refused to state where he lived, was set at $10,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
