Arthritis Walk Returns To Santa Monica On Sunday:

Sunday's Los Angeles Arthritis Walk will feature a Guinness World Record Attempt after it begins at the Santa Monica Pier.

The Annual Arthritis Walk in Los Angeles will be held this Sunday, June 2 in Santa Monica.

The walk (one and three mile options) will begin at 9 am from the Santa Monica Pier, Lot 1 North (next to the pier -1550 Palisades Beach Road, Santa Monica.)

Registration opens at 7:30 am; the opening ceremony will be held at 8:30 am before the walk starts at 9 am.

Following the walk at noon, the Arthritis Walk Village will feature live entertainment, Kids Zone, activities, refreshments, and food.

During the walk there will be a Guinness World Record attempt for game “Head, Shoulders, Knees, Toes.”

Sibila Vargas, CBS-2/KCAL-9, will serve as emcee. Live entertainment will be provided by “Maureen Davis and Mercury 5” and “Above Seclusion.”

Attendees can meet youth honoree Gwendolyn Whiting and medical honorees Susan A. Baker, M.D. and Kevin Ehrhart, M.D.

Please note that City of Santa Monica does not permit animals at this event.

Los Angeles and Santa Monica area residents and business colleagues are welcome to attend.

Santa Monica Goes Car Free this Friday: First #CarFreeFriday kicks off with car free pledges and students going big with weeklong bike and walk to school activities

This Friday, the City of Santa Monica challenges residents, employees, visitors, and students to go car free for one day. Hundreds have pledged to go car free, including students at McKinley Elementary School who will be celebrating with a “walking” school bus, bike trains, and free rides on the Big Blue Bus. The #CarFreeFriday challenge is part of the City’s GoSaMo initiative to get more people trying Santa Monica’s complete transportation network of rail, bus, bike share, and walking.
