It’s a big weekend for food with the finale of Estrano Verano or Estrano Summer at Skyduster Beer at 1124 San Julian Street, with the two final World Cup games. Chef Diego Argoti has released the menu for Saturday, July 18, with service beginning at “noonish”, which will accompany the third-place playoff match between England and France. Skyduster Beer and cocktails by Rossoblu will also be available. These are your last two chances to eat Chef Diego’s incredible high-wire live fire creations. Seriously, you will be sad when you were one of the ones who never took part in Estrano Verano.

The normal shenanigans will take place on Sunday, one of six final Sundays for this ephemeral backyard hang with freshly baked breads, pastries, and pizza, and whatever baker and chef David Wilcox dreams up for dinner on Friday nights. This week it was cheeseburgers, because he felt like eating cheeseburgers, next week, who knows?

On Sundays, from 8 to noon, you can pick up freshly baked loaves of bread, like the pain de campagne, corn loaf, and muesli loaf, baguettes, and mine was still warm last Sunday, inventive, farmer’s market fresh pastries, toasts, including an egg salad toast and a pistachio butter and jam toast, usually strawberry, which is my favorite. If you devour a toast, it’s a great way to try out the bread before committing to an entire loaf. Sometimes they will get out the grill and vegetables or have focaccia closer to noon

When available, they have an espresso bar from Lightform Coffee, but they always have regular brewed coffee priced at $3 per cup.
