A 30-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Saturday, July 27 after punching his wife in the face, causing a black eye.
At 10:30 pm, a woman entered the Santa Monica Police Department and approached the front desk.
This woman then told the officer who was manning the front desk that she had been the victim of an assault.
She informed the officers that the assault had taken place at her apartment and that her husband was the transgressor.
She continued to explain that they had been involved in an argument and that during the course of this conflict her husband had attempted to leave the apartment.
She said that she didn’t want her husband to leave and that she had blocked the doorway.
The husband had responded to this restriction by punching his wife in the face with a closed fist, causing visible swelling to the left side of her face as well as a black left eye.
Officers were dispatched to the apartment, located in the 2000 block of Wilshire Boulevard, and arrested the husband.
Bail was set at $50,000
