Behold a truly one-of-a-kind public art project “Octopus Mandala Glow” tonight conceptualized for the Pacific Wheel Ferris wheel at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier by Victoria Vesna, PhD.
Vesna is commissioned as one of three lead artists for this year’s Glow event.
She is a world-renowned artist known for her collaboration with scientists and work with media for many years with a focus on interactive artworks that immerse the audience and put them in the center of the work.
Together with her team she has developed the “Octopus Mandala Glow” project for the nine-story tall Pacific Wheel — the only solar-powered Ferris wheel in the world.
Glow is returning to the splendor of Santa Monica Beach for its third appearance with its free dusk-and-beyond event featuring the work of international, national and local artists.
Glow is an all-night cultural experience featuring original commissions by artists that re-imagine Santa Monica Beach as a playground for thoughtful and participatory temporary artworks.
Glow is a project of the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Arts Foundation.
